To document the ingenuity and creativity of the architects of transformation, AMC is preparing a special issue featuring 20 exemplary projects involving reversible, transformed, renovated and reused buildings.
Highlighting building reversibility projects
AMC, the Infopro Digital group’s benchmark media brand for architecture, is preparing an exclusive special edition, soberly entitled “Transformations”, with a print run of over 10,000 copies for its subscribers, to complement the October 2023 issue of its eponymous magazine. The aim is to highlight 20 exemplary projects involving reversible, transformed, renovated and reused buildings.
The reversibility of buildings is making inroads in France, no doubt as a result of growing environmental awareness. This optimisation approach involves transforming existing buildings rather than demolishing them and rebuilding from scratch, thereby encouraging the reuse of materials and infrastructure, limiting construction costs and reducing the environmental impact of building projects.
AMC: documenting the ingenuity and creativity of reversible architects
Building reversibility projects are often characterised by their ingenuity, boldness and creative impetus. Architects and builders have to come to terms with the characteristics of the existing building, town planning regulations and user requirements.
With this exclusive special issue, AMC wishes to document this reflection in order to inspire professionals in the sector, honour the architects behind reversibility projects and promote more responsible construction and development practices.
In addition to their environmental dimension, building reversibility projects also have a strong social and cultural dimension. By preserving existing buildings and adapting them to today’s needs, these projects help to maintain the collective memory of the site, reinforce the identity and uniqueness of the neighbourhood and encourage a diversity of uses.
