La Gazette des Communes launches "Rénovation énergétique"

A new, unique section dedicated to ecological transition.

Ecological transition, a strategic objective at the state level.

La Gazette des Communes, a media brand dedicated to the news of local authorities and territorial civil servants within the Infopro Digital group, is strengthening its editorial device to better inform and equip local authorities, territorial public servants, and local elected officials in order to meet the challenges of energy renovation and, more broadly, ecological transition.

On the agenda: a regularly updated section on the website, a special issue of La Gazette des Communes on ecological transition, and around ten features dedicated to this theme throughout the year.

Far from being insensitive to the global climate challenge, France has adopted several texts as part of the government’s ecological transition strategy.

The stated aim is to reduce total greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 (compared with 1990 levels), and by 75% by 2050. These are ambitious targets, to say the least, and they are backed up by a panoply of assistance for private individuals and social landlords to support their energy renovation efforts: MaPrimeRénov’, assistance from the Agence Nationale de l’Habitat, energy saving certificates, insulation and heating grants, etc.

As a strategic objective of the French government, the ecological transition has been “formalised” in the France Relance plan for 2021. In addition to its ambition to revive economic activity hit hard by the pandemic, this plan dedicates 30% of a total budget of €100 billion to the challenge of ecological transition and implements 20% of the proposals of the Citizens’ Climate Convention.

Today, France Relance has extended MaPrimeRénov’ to all French households, introduced aid for the ecological transition of SMEs and increased the bonus for clean cars, among other things. The flagship measure of the France Relance plan, the energy renovation of buildings alone is worth €6.7 billion. This sum should be allocated to :

  • Renovation of private housing ;
  • Renovation of public buildings and social housing ;
  • Energy efficiency in tertiary buildings for SMEs and VSEs.

The momentum is there, and there’s no time to lose. To support this momentum and equip the ecosystem of local authorities in the broadest sense, La Gazette des Communes has decided to expand its editorial resources with the creation of a new section entitled “Rénovation énergétique” and the production of a series of expert reports to be published throughout 2023.

“Rénovation Énergétique”: Better support for local decision-makers

True to its mission of deciphering the news related to local authorities and territorial public service (finances, economic development, technical management, human resources, digital, ecology, etc.), La Gazette des Communes has decided to strengthen its editorial approach by dedicating a section to issues related to energy renovation and ecological transition at the level of local authorities. The agenda also includes a special issue of La Gazette des Communes dedicated to ecological transition scheduled for June 5, 2023, followed by a special “Transition écologique” supplement to be distributed on November 6, 2023.

The benchmark media brand for local authorities is also planning a dozen special features throughout the year to decipher the latest news on the ecological transition, shine the spotlight on pioneering experiments and highlight best practices and innovations in the field.

La Gazette des Communes also organises events, study days, conferences, training courses and sectoral studies on key territorial issues. In October 2022, for example, La Gazette des Communes teamed up with housing professional Procivis to conduct an in-depth survey on energy renovation and social housing.

The aim was to shed light on the expectations of local elected representatives and local civil servants in this area. The results of the study are available here
